For L Ac's by NCALB

NCCAOM Provider #820

Courses Approved for 14 PDA points

*Please Note the Course Dates have Changed to begin September 2009*

Intermediate Level Courses (1-6)

1) Energetic Theory- September 25-26, 2010

In this first module we will introduce the basic foundational concepts of Energetic medicine as explained by Classical Chinese medicine, elaborated and clarified in modern scientific terms and integrated with western biomedical thought.

2) Energetic Production and Circulation- October 9-10, 2010

This module will cover the Basic Energies, the stuff of Life. From the production of ATP to the complement cascade, from erythropoeitin to synovial fluid, energetic medicine can influence these physiological processes to restore homeostasis.

3) Point Energetics and Jing- October 23-24, 2010

In this session, we will begin to physically locate points by palpation as well as measurement, to learn special functions of clinically valuable points, and to manipulate the needle accurately and effectively.

4) Diagnosis- November 6-7, 2010

In this module we will introduce the process of energetic diagnosis, while integrating fresh understanding of biomedical physical diagnostic techniques.

5) Technique and Point Locations- November 20-21, 2010

This session is devoted to becoming familiar with the basic tools of acupuncture: needles and moxa. Liberal time is dedicated to hands-on practice.

6) Treatment- January 8-9, 2011

This session is about developing a working diagnosis, formulating a therapeutic strategy, and executing an effective course of treatment (including lifetime wellness care).

Advanced Level Courses (7-14)

7) Musculoskeletal Disorders- January 22-23, 2011

This seminar will cover common musculoskeletal conditions, including clinical presentation, biomedical and energetic pathophysiology, diagnosis, and treatment.

8) Gastrointestinal Conditions and Chronic Fatigue-  February 5-6, 2011

This class will explore the production and metabolization of nutritive energy via the San Jiao. We’ll discuss common conditions involving the gastrointestinal system, including clinical presentation, biomedical and energetic pathophysiology, diagnosis, and treatment.

9) Respiratory and Immune Conditions- February 19-20, 2011

This session will cover the production and distribution of defensive energy. We will discuss common respiratory and immune disorders, including clinical presentation, biomedical and energetic pathophysiology, diagnosis, and treatment.

10) Mental and Emotional Conditions- March 5-6, 2011

This session will cover the source of and variations in emotional energy. We will discuss common emotional disorders, including clinical presentation, biomedical and energetic pathophysiology, diagnosis, and treatment.

11) Gynecology- March 20-21, 2010

This class will cover female reproductive system energetics under normal and abnormal conditions. We will discuss common reproductive system problems, including clinical presentation, biomedical and energetic pathophysiology, diagnosis and treatment.

12) Infertility and Obstetrics- April 10-11, 2010

This class will explore the entire process of fetal development, pregnancy, labor and delivery, including pathologies that prevent conception & full term completion. We will discuss these common conditions including clinical presentation, biomedical and energetic pathophysiology, diagnosis and treatment.

13) Neurological Disorders- April 17-18, 2010

This session will begin to explore the complex area of neurological disorders. We will discuss the pertinent energetics and biomedical considerations, with clinical presentation, biomedical and energetic pathophysiology, diagnosis and treatment.

14) Renal and Cardiovascular Conditions-May 1-2, 2010

In this final seminar of the series, we will discuss the interplay between the renal and cardiovascular systems in their maintenance of homeostasis. We will discuss common disorders of the kidneys and heart, with pertinent energetics and biomedical considerations, clinical presentation, biomedical and energetic pathophysiology, diagnosis and treatment.

One Medicine: Integrative Medicine for the 21st Century

Biomedical and Classical Chinese Medicine

2 New Seminars Dates To Be Announced:

1) Pathophysiology and Treatment- This class is an exploration of the many ways that biomedical and energetic medicines agree. We will explore biomedical concepts of the pathological processes involved in disease, and review the energetic medical explanations of the same processes. We will cover typical treatment strategies and explain the energetic rationale behind these treatments.

2) Diagnosis and Treatment- In this class, we will explore common diagnostic methods used in both biomedical and energetic medical practices; and interpret them based on anatomy, physiology, channel trajectories, internal pathways, etc. Treatment strategies will be discussed and demonstrated which address common diagnoses seen in daily practice.
